Welcome to Guru Jas Academy, where we offer an unparalleled immersive learning experience that delves deep into Sikhism’s rich musical heritage. Our academy provides a holistic learning experience that encompasses both the spiritual essence and musical intricacies of Sikh traditions.
At our academy, students embark on a journey through the vibrant tapestry of Sikhism, delving into its spiritual teachings, historical context, and musical expressions.
Our curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the classical 31 Raags found in Guru Granth Sahib, as well as light compositions, exploring its intricate structures, melodic patterns, rhythmic intricacies, and emotive expressions. Through personalized instruction and hands-on practice, students will develop a solid foundation in Raag theory, learning to identify and perform various Raags with authenticity and finesse. Through guided instruction and practical application, students will gain a profound understanding of how Raags are intricately woven into the fabric of Sikh devotional music.
Furthermore, Guru Jas Academy places a strong emphasis on pronouncing and enunciating Shabad as well as exploring the philosophical underpinnings of the message of each Shabad. Students will receive guidance in the correct pronunciation of Gurbani words and phrases, ensuring that each syllable is articulated with precision and respect. Through individualized instruction, group discussions/analysis, group presentations, and practical workshops, students will also engage in meaningful dialogues of the translation and interpretation of not only Gurbani Shabads, but also various Baanis of the Guru Granth Sahib, as well as the poetry and ghazals of renowned spiritual poets such as Bhai Nand Lal and Bhai Gurdas. By delving into the essence of each Shabad, students will deepen their appreciation and understanding of Sikh spirituality, connecting with the profound messages embedded within these sacred compositions.
